Kress Mission: Blade Blocked

A blade-blocked warning can come from packed grass or a trapped object, but it can also indicate damaged blades, bearings or a cutting-motor problem.

What this warning means

The mower detected that the cutting system did not rotate as expected or required excessive effort. Repeatedly restarting it without removing the cause can damage the motor or wiring.

Before buying parts: record the exact mower model, displayed wording and what happened immediately before the warning.

Safe checks in the right order

  1. Stop the mower, switch it off and remove the disabling key or follow the model manual before turning it over. Wear gloves.
  2. Remove packed wet grass, string, wire, roots or other debris from the cutting disc and surrounding guard.
  3. Rotate the disc carefully by hand. It should turn evenly; scraping, tight spots or sideways movement needs investigation.
  4. Check that every blade can pivot freely and that no blade screw is loose, bent or missing. Replace blades as a balanced set.
  5. Return the mower upright, move it away from people and test once. If the warning returns immediately, stop rather than repeatedly resetting it.

What the result tells you

Disc turns freely after cleaning

The obstruction was likely the cause. Shorten the mowing interval or avoid very wet, overgrown grass.

Disc scrapes or has a tight spot

Check the guard, disc and spindle area for deformation or a trapped object.

Disc is free but the error returns immediately

A cutting-motor, wiring, speed-sensing or control fault needs model-specific diagnosis.

The mower vibrates after blade replacement

Stop it and check for a missing blade, unequal blade set, bent disc or incorrectly fitted hardware.

  1. Packed wet grass or a foreign object
  2. Blade unable to pivot
  3. Bent or damaged cutting disc/guard
  4. Worn or damaged motor bearing
  5. Cutting-motor, cable or controller fault

When to stop: Never work beneath an enabled mower. Stop immediately for damaged wiring, a cracked disc, severe bearing play or repeated motor overheating.
