Kress Mission: Wheel Motor Blocked

First determine whether the wheel is physically jammed, the lawn is trapping the mower, or the drive motor/gearbox cannot turn under load.

What this warning means

The controller detected that a drive wheel did not move as commanded or drew abnormal effort. Mud and debris are common causes, but a stiff gearbox, damaged wheel or electrical fault can give the same warning.

Before buying parts: record the exact mower model, displayed wording and what happened immediately before the warning.

Safe checks in the right order

  1. Switch the mower off and disable it according to the manual before touching a wheel.
  2. Remove packed grass, mud, string and stones from the wheel, axle gap and underside.
  3. Compare the affected wheel with the opposite wheel by turning each carefully. Note binding, excessive play, clicking or a large difference in resistance.
  4. Inspect the tyre and wheel for cracking, looseness or deformation and check whether the chassis is rubbing.
  5. Move the mower to firm, level ground and test once. Repeated failure on clear ground is not a terrain problem.

What the result tells you

Wheel was jammed and now turns like the other side

Clean the area and test. Correct ruts, roots or soft ground if the fault recurs in the same place.

Wheel remains stiff with power off

A mechanical obstruction, bearing, gearbox or drive assembly problem is likely.

Wheel turns freely but will not drive

Motor wiring, speed feedback or controller diagnosis may be required.

Fault occurs only on a slope or soft ground

Check whether the installation exceeds the model limit and improve traction/drainage rather than replacing a motor.

Likely causes

  1. Grass, mud, string or stone around the axle
  2. Mower trapped in a rut or on unsuitable terrain
  3. Loose or damaged drive wheel
  4. Drive gearbox or bearing damage
  5. Wheel motor, cable, sensor or controller fault

When to stop: Arrange service if the wheel locks again on clear ground, the motor area becomes hot, there is grinding, or wiring is damaged.
