Kress Mission: Cannot Find Charging Station

If a Kress Mission keeps searching for its base, separate a navigation or boundary-wire problem from a station-power or docking problem before replacing anything.

What this warning means

The mower has not completed its return-to-base sequence. On boundary-wire Mission installations, the return route depends on a healthy installation signal and an unobstructed approach to the station. The message does not by itself prove that the station, battery or mower electronics have failed.

Before buying parts: record the exact mower model, displayed wording and what happened immediately before the warning.

Safe checks in the right order

  1. Send the mower home from a position a few metres in front of the station. Watch whether it finds the approach but misses the contacts, or never finds the return route at all.
  2. Confirm that the charging station is powered. Inspect the power supply, low-voltage lead and plug connections for looseness, water or visible damage.
  3. Switch the mower off safely, then clean and dry the mower and station charging contacts. Do not abrade plated contacts aggressively.
  4. Clear grass, ruts, roots and steep changes of level around the station entrance. Make sure the station has not moved or twisted.
  5. Place the mower in the station manually. If charging begins reliably, concentrate on the return route and installation signal rather than the battery.

What the result tells you

Charges when placed in the station

The power supply, charging contacts and battery can accept charge. Check the boundary/return signal, station approach and installation geometry next.

Reaches the station but repeatedly misses the contacts

Clean and align the contacts, level the station and remove anything that makes the mower enter at an angle.

Cannot detect the route from anywhere

Treat this first as an installation-signal or boundary-wire fault. Check for a station warning indication and inspect recent digging, edging or aeration areas.

Does not charge even when docked manually

Move to the Kress Mission not-charging checks; the return error may be secondary to loss of station power or contact.

Likely causes

  1. Station approach obstructed or no longer level
  2. Dirty, wet or misaligned charging contacts
  3. Loss or weakening of the boundary/return signal
  4. Damaged low-voltage supply cable or loose connector
  5. A station, mower receiver or control fault requiring model-specific testing

When to stop: Stop and arrange service if the power supply or cable is heat-damaged, the station has water inside it, or the mower cannot detect a confirmed healthy installation signal.
