Kress Mission: Trapped Error
A trapped error usually means the mower has repeatedly tried to escape without making enough progress. The lawn layout is often responsible, but wheel, lift or collision sensing can also be involved.
What this warning means
The mower believes it cannot move safely away from its current position. Treat the place where it stopped as evidence: repeated failures at one location usually point to terrain or installation geometry; failures everywhere suggest a mower fault.
Before buying parts: record the exact mower model, displayed wording and what happened immediately before the warning.
Safe checks in the right order
- Switch the mower off before freeing it. Remove branches, toys, wire and packed grass from around the chassis and wheels.
- Inspect the exact stop location for a hole, root, soft ground, narrow passage, steep edge or boundary-wire layout that prevents escape.
- Check that both drive wheels turn similarly and are not packed with mud or grass.
- Make sure the outer shell or collision mechanism moves freely and is not held in by debris.
- Test on a clear, level section. If it travels normally there, correct or exclude the problem area.
What the result tells you
Always trapped in the same place
Repair the ground, remove the obstacle or revise the boundary layout around that location.
Trapped in several unrelated clear areas
Check wheel movement, shell/collision movement and lift sensing; a mower-side fault is more likely.
One wheel does not drive
Follow the wheel-motor-blocked diagnosis rather than repeatedly repositioning the mower.
Error began after cleaning or impact
Check that the shell and sensor mechanisms are seated and move freely; service may be needed if they do not.
Likely causes
- Hole, root, soft ground or excessive slope
- Narrow passage or unsuitable boundary geometry
- Debris restricting a drive wheel
- Shell/collision or lift mechanism sticking
- Drive-motor or sensor fault
When to stop: Do not place hands near the cutting system while freeing the mower. Service is appropriate when the error repeats on flat, obstacle-free ground.
